Before and after Lambretta LD53

Today has been a beautiful hot day - I was glad to see the postman with a big box of parts so that I could get on with the restoration of my Lambretta LD53 - LD is the model and 53 is the year.

At the same time I am doing some work on my combi, but I really want to get the Lambretta on the road, especially as the weather is so stonkingly beautiful - well today it is - not sure about tomorrow …

All I am waiting for are the two seats - which are conspicuous by their absence. Apparently they are a real bar steward to get on with much tugging, swearing and throwing of hammers around the workshop, so I decided to send the seat frames off to get them mounted by a specialist, which also means that they are guaranteed too - me is sensible (for once).

So here is the before and after of the Lambretta restoration, which I bought for a song from an old man in the Corbières - that’s near the Med and have promised myself that it will be on the road for honourable son N°1’s birthday on 3rd June.

Looks like it is going to happen - there will be a photo later from Place du Capitol in Toulouse, where I will be drinking a cool beer, whilst watching my Lambretta like a hawk as it will be parked just opposite the café.

I will buy a beer for anyone present at the inaugural Café run of the Lambretta at Place Capitol and I will arrange some sun too, I’m sure our new President can pull a few strings in that department.

That’s a Series II cutdown by the way. The leg shield is modeled after a Vega, but he fabricated it himself along with frame modifications. Bad ass cutdown.
